God’s Word and Me: Growing in the Bible,Led by Pastor Ronnie Bearden: This study is all aboutthe Bible itself. The primary purposes of the class are a) to understand and grow in love withGod’s Word and b) to learn to use God’s Word that I may grow in faith. We will look at thefollowing issues: Choosing a translation, How is the Bible organized, using an exhaustiveconcordance, Bibles in devotional life, smart phone/tablet apps, How did we get from the originaldocument to the Bible in our hands, how books were chosen to be in the Bible, the nature of theBible, and how can I use it to grow in my faith? The only required textbook for the class will be aBible, but many tools and reference works will be explored. We hope every church member andvisitor will go through this study as we consider this class to be part of the basic Discipleship ofour church. Book of Ruth led by Nell Sutherland: Many of us struggle through seasons of bitterness, tears,and loss, wondering if there could ever be a happy ending to our stories. The story of Ruth affirmsthat yes, there is hope. However, it's not found in a happy ending scribed by a novelist’s pen, butin the power and protection of a sovereign God who never takes His eyes off of us for even amoment. This is a women’s class. Seeing Jesus in the Old Testament, led by Jody Woodward: After his resurrection, Jesus told hisdisciples “that all things which are written about Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and thePsalms must be fulfilled” (Luke 24:44).This workbook attempts to explore these Old Testamentpictures of the Messiah. Students must look beyond the immediate context of the Old Testamentstory and look at the larger context of Scripture. This larger view helps us better appreciate theperson and work of Jesus Christ.This is a class for young adults ages 18 to 28 years old. Crossroads Center/Rm 403
